As ReaMedica continues to grow and expand affordable, reliable and accessible care we also are creating and pushing for greater education. In doing that, we are looking to develop our Continuous Professional Development courses though a comprehensive and updated skills lab.
ReaMedica has developed two current program models that our resident radiologist Kevin and Executive Director Peninah have been working with in order to provide full training courses for nurses and doctors across Kenya. The development of these courses in an updated skills lab pose undeniable benefits. Benefits which have yet to make their way to many quickly developing, yet often underfunded, nations such as Kenya. As for an updated skills lab, ReaMedica needs to obtain Phantoms. These are pieces of medical equipment used to mimic human bodies so that nurses and radiologists learn correct methods for imaging. The benefits of learning with a completely hands on piece of equipment such as a Phantom have been extensively researched. Findings include a higher rate of comfortability and confidence for those who have practiced, increased success rates for numerous radiological services, and the eradication of a need for human test subjects. Even one phantom can provide multiple scenarios and complications which occur in the body, many of which would never be seen before actually experienced with a patient. To find a Phantom in Kenya is incredibly rare, which is why availability of one to learn from at ReaMedica would make it a reliable, expert hub for students and professionals to develop and strengthen their skills in diagnostic imaging. With our CPD and CPE courses already being utilized and developed, the final step is for us to have the complete equipment necessary for an all encompassing education. |
